(Worthy News) – A prominent pro-Kremlin blogger who once championed Russia’s war effort has dramatically reversed course—publicly denouncing President Vladimir Putin before reportedly being placed in psychiatric care, according to a report by Deutsche Welle.
Ilya Remeslo, a lawyer and former member of Russia’s Public Chamber, stunned followers on March 17 when he published a manifesto outlining “five reasons” why he no longer supports Putin. In the post, Remeslo described Russia’s war in Ukraine as “failing,” condemned censorship, and criticized what he called the erosion of free speech.
He went further, accusing Putin of clinging to power indefinitely and labeling his leadership illegitimate. “Putin must resign and be brought to justice as a war criminal and a thief,” Remeslo wrote, in a striking departure from his previous pro-government stance.
Within days of publishing the manifesto—and sharing videos insisting he remained in Russia and was prepared to face imprisonment—Remeslo reportedly disappeared from public communication. He is now believed to be held in St. Petersburg’s Psychiatric Hospital No. 3, though details surrounding his confinement remain unclear.

Remeslo’s transformation is particularly notable given his past role as a staunch defender of the Kremlin. He was widely known as a “Z-blogger,” part of a group of vocal online supporters of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. In earlier remarks before his reported detention, Remeslo claimed his shift was the result of personal evolution and a new sense of purpose.
